London, UK – May 4, 2026 – Curve Games and indie studio Turtle Juice today are pleased to announce that the highly anticipated playtest for MECHBORN – the fresh roguelike deckbuilder where YOUR MECH IS YOUR DECK — is now live and available to play on Steam.
The MECHBORN playtest gives players their first hands-on look at the game ahead of its full launch in Q4 2026, offering a substantial slice of content across two distinct game modes, one fully customisable mech, two unique pilots and over 115 cards and 100 Infuser upgrades to discover.

WHAT’S IN THE PLAYTEST?
Players can jump into Campaign Mode and fight to repel the Kaiju invasion across Alkova — MECHBORN’s first continent — culminating in a climactic boss encounter. For those looking for an additional challenge, the unlockable Swarm Mode delivers a wave-based, high-score experience that pushes builds to their absolute limit.
At the heart of the playtest is Boreas — MECHBORN’s first fully customisable mech — featuring three distinct armour sets and 12 parts to unlock across Head, Torso, Arms and Legs. Each part adds new cards to the player’s starting deck, enabling three unique archetypes: the stance-switching Skyfall, the drone-deploying Sentinel, and the all-out aggressive Reaper.
Players can equip a full matching set or mix and match parts to forge their own custom build.
The playtest also introduces two pilots: Yumi Yukino, available from the start, and Yan Li, unlockable after the player’s first Elite Kaiju kill — each bringing their own unique combat skills to complement any build.
Central to MECHBORN’s gameplay is the Conveyor Belt — a flowing queue of 7 cards that replaces the traditional hand system. With a new card sliding in every time one is played, positioning and repositioning cards on the belt is key to setting up devastating combos and unlocking powerful pilot synergies.
